Cultural Diversity

The main aim of the African Student Union is to unite all students of African descent on Capital University’s campus. This unity helps promote and maintain African culture on campus. The organization is open to students of all descent. The goal of ASU is to emphasize, educate and appreciate the culture of the African Continent. ASU will be sharing their cultural experience through their education, activities, and community involvement. Africa, as a continent represents different countries and each country, is very different in terms of culture. ASU recognizes these differences and heads towards bridging the gap between students from various countries in Africa to extending beyond our horizon.

The Asian American Alliance (Triple "A") offers support to and advocates for students of Asian and Asian American descent. The organization also promotes and educates the campus and wider communities about Asian culture, groups and pertinent issues. While students of Asian and Asian American descent are highly encouraged to join, membership is open to all Capital students who have a vested interest in learning more about Asian culture and its contributions to American and world histories.

BSU’s goals are to aid in the educational, social, economic, political, and cultural struggles of the black people in relation to students enrolled in a predominantly white institution of higher learning and to represent the views and concerns of black students in order to initiate change. Annual programs organized by BSU include: Kwanzaa Program and Black History Month Programs. Membership is open to any member of the Capital community.

Capital Autism Society is dedicated to providing a safe, accepting, and affirming environment for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, self-diagnosed or questioning ASD, or any Capital student who is interested in learning more about ASD and/or participating in advocacy for the autistic community. We hope to increase knowledge and acceptance of Autism Spectrum Disorder in students on campus and to learn from each other about diverse presentations of ASD, while advocating for autistic issues on and off campus.

Capital University's Dance Team is a great team to get females and males involved in dancing! On the team, we practice each week to prepare us for the upcoming performance we may have! We perform during half time in football and basketball games! We have a blast during practice, and also during our team bonding events! We come together and get to know one another! We make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable with the people on the team, and the dances as well! This team is for everyone, so whether or not you have "rhythm", still join because we are here to have a blast! Like to dance? Join CU's Dance Team!

CSO is an inclusive faith-based organization. While we are grounded in Catholic theology, we are open to all students. We strive to create a safe community where students can talk openly about their faith, learn from one another, and strengthen their relationship with God. Join us for our weekly Bible study and stay tuned for our fall/spring retreats, service opportunities and social events! 

Our purpose is to participate in debates to better our understanding of speech, argumentation and the world. The Debate Union shall engage in debates throughout the year to inform and entertain the Capital campus. We will also bring in relevant speakers to speak on current and debate-worthy issues to members of the Union and the campus as a whole. This portion of the Debate Union will focus on college debaters finding, engaging, educating, and cultivating their peers into debaters on a more personal level than our Ludlum-Forum competition debate counterpart.

The Ebony Brotherhood's purpose is to enhance the image of African American males on campus by means of social, academic, cultural, and community oriented programming.

The International Student Association's primary purpose is to provide international students with support, assistance, socialization and educational opportunities. The association is to also provide opportunities for U.S. students and international students to interact, and learn about different cultures and nations.

IMPACT aims to build movements of people who are transformed by Jesus Christ. The student-led movement seeks to introduce students to Jesus Christ, help them to grow in their faith, encourage them to live life passionately under the lordship of Christ, and inspire commitment to advancing the purposes of God in the world.

The Interfaith Student Organization (ISO) seeks to uplift students’ non-faith, religious and spiritual traditions, especially those who are otherwise without representation on campus, by integrating spirituality with academic life while promoting relationships, peace, and understanding of all faith and spirituality traditions.

Sigma Alpha Iota is an international professional music fraternity dedicated to encouraging, nurturing, and supporting the art of music. The goal of SAI is to stand for the highest musical scholarship, for nobility and uprightness of character, and for the maintenance of friendly and unselfish relations among women and gender-nonconforming musicians in the musical profession. Anyone who identifies as a woman or as gender-nonconforming and has one credit of music (being a music major is not required) is welcome.

The mission of the Muslim Student Organization is to positively impact the perception of Muslims on campus by promoting the understanding through the educational programming.

The mission of The Doubter’s Club is to model friendship and pursue truth together with people who think differently than one another. Both aspects must be present for it to be a Doubter’s Club: modeling friendship and pursuing truth with people who think differently. 

Modeling friendship: Both co-moderators put their friendship on display through being the first to talk about the topic voted on the time before.

Pursuing truth together: Although admirable, it is not enough to just have a group of friends who think differently. Real friendships help one another find out what is true, and they pursue that truth together. Call us crazy, but we think you can do that even if you think differently than one anothe

As members of Capital University's LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans*, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and Allies) organization, Pride, our mission is to provide a safe environment of support, an attitude of acceptance, and to promote advocacy of all students regardless of perceived sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.

Sister Network is an organization that prides itself in being committed to the success of all women. We provide a place where women can talk about their personal and academic lives and can also create a sisterly bond. We value unity, academic success, distinction, professional development, and community service.

The goal of SOLA is to promote cultural, educational, and social awareness of the Hispanic culture in the university and community.

The goal of the Women’s Empowerment Alliance is to advocate for marginalized groups, break down gender roles and the stereotypes of both femininity and masculinity, open discussion regarding relationship violence, and take action towards equality. Fulfillment of these purposes will occur through weekly discussion, the hosting of events and programs both on and off campus, and fundraising.
